Woodhead Hall
About the Project
A grade 2 listed building required a heritage statement in regards to proposals to build holiday chalets in the grounds and a retirement village on land once used as a carpark when the building was in use as offices. The site contained several large buildings once in use as stables serving the listed building and during the Second World War, Woodhead Hall was requisitioned by the RAF and became "RAF Cheadle", one of Britain's highly secret Y-stations. Its job was to intercept and monitor German radio communications, particularly messages between Luftwaffe bombers and their ground controllers
